My love for dancing started at primary school in Glasgow, and I was fortunate to have a PE teacher at high school who loved Scottish Country dancing.

Anton and I along with our 2 boys arrived in New Zealand in 1978. However, It was not until around the late 80’s that I discovered dancing in Dunedin.  I danced at Southern Cross club, and this was quickly followed by another evening’s dancing at the Ceilidh club until Anton and I went home to Glasgow for an extended trip in 1999. On our return we moved to Christchurch, where I danced at Christchurch, Hoon Hay, and Caledonian clubs.

I gained my teacher’s certificate at the Auckland Summer School 2009/2010. I began sharing the teaching at both Hoon Hay and Caledonian clubs until we moved to Blenheim in 2020. I am currently teaching at the Blenheim club and dance at Picton club.

I have taught at Dunedin, and Masterton summer schools, weekend schools, day schools, and Region classes which included JAM’s, elementary, intermediate and advanced classes.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to teach the Advanced Low Impact class at the Nelson Summer School.
